Paul Harvey
Some collectors find Stoney's from a distance. Paul Harvey grew up right next to it.
Raised in Wyano and now living in Smithton, the same town that gave the brand its roots, Paul took his first sip of beer from a can of Stoney's and never let it go. What started with a few lots at a local auction has grown into a real archive of Jones Brewing Company history, and a community he built so others could share theirs.

I grew up in the small town of Wyano, PA. In my teenage years I had friends who lived in nearby Smithton, so I spent a lot of time there. I knew the Jones Brewing Company was located there and that they brewed Stoney's beer, but that was about all I knew. The first sip of beer I ever took was from a can of Stoney's. And back in my drinking days, I had my fair share of that great beer.
I moved away, and it wasn't until years later that I took an interest in the actual history of the Stoney's brand. When my wife and I first moved in together, we rented a duplex in Smithton. A few years later we bought a house there, where we still live today. I had a few Stoney's items at that time but never really considered adding any more to them. By this point the brewery had already closed down.
It was sometime after that when I really took the time to research the legacy of the Jones Brewing Company and how Stoney's beer actually came to be. After learning the story, I decided this was something that interested me, and I wanted to find more items from there. I ended up going to a local auction where I was lucky enough to get a few lots of new old stock Stoney's items. From that day on, I was hooked. I'm always on the lookout for new items to add to my collection. I collect all items associated with the brewery, but most of my collection is Stoney's.
I started doing research, wondering how many Stoney's related items were out there for me to try to find. That turned into me starting a Facebook group called Stoney's Memories and Memorabilia. I wanted somewhere people could share their memories of the old brewery, their love for Stoney's, and some of the items they have. It's only a small group right now, but it's full of great people. The collections a few of these folks have are insane. Mine is nowhere near the same ballpark as theirs, but I try to add to mine whenever I'm able and can afford it. I enjoy just seeing all the pictures of the amazing items that others have acquired.
Stoney's Memories & Memorabilia
Paul founded a Facebook group so collectors and fans could swap memories of the old brewery and show off the pieces they've tracked down. It's a small group full of great people, and it's growing.
Join the GroupStoney's Beer extends our heartfelt thanks to Paul. Living in the same town where Jones Brewing Company built its name, he has become a steward of our history, preserving the pieces and the memories that keep the Stoney's story alive. His passion, and the community he built around it, mean more to us than he knows. Thank you, Paul.
